As part of the bail out package, the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008 was signed into law on October 3, 2008.  It also extended critical Federal Investment Tax Credits for solar customers and other renewable energy projects.  For qualified solar photovoltaic installation, system owners can receive federal tax credit[1] on 30% of total installation costs (equipment and labor).  Of course, that also depends on your individual income tax situation.  Before you start contemplating on such project, we suggest you to consult with your tax accountant.
